Minutes of Meeting of Route 206 Corridor Committee

September 18, 2000 at MKL.Net, 28 N. Main Street, Bainbridge

Present: Cathy Capra, Greater Greene Chamber of Commerce; Helen Hernandez, Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce; Janice O’Shea, Coventry Museum; George M. Sands, Market Research Initiative; Robert Terry, Colchester Chamber of Commerce; Ellen , Chenango County Tourism

Meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM by Helen. Robert made a motion to accept the minutes of the August 8 meeting, Janice seconded and the motion was carried.

Robert presented us with the Treasurer’s report, since Ken was not able to attend. We discussed a discrepancy in the amount paid to Allee Sign. Helen to ask treasurer to bring invoices to next meeting to see if we overpaid.

Walton commitment: $250

Greene Labor Day: $200

Report to be approved after discrepancy was corrected.

Sign Committee: Roscoe was invited to invest in sign at a recent meeting on Tuesday. Town of Tompkins (Ed Reynolds) was discouraging regarding support of Route 206. Mr. Terry reported on the second Monday in October - Whitney Paint.

Regional Committee Reports. Kathy Capra reported on Greene funds that are already committed for Route 206 for the next year. Money from Greene has come from the Chamber, the Town AND the Village.

Mr. Sands reported on the Tourism office that is open now. Reported on meeting he is going to attend with NYS Tourism. He will promote the 206 Byway Project.

100 letters for membership and support were sent. Each of us is asked to help promote for more membership.

Marketing-Website. Helen reported on website info. Everything you need for presentation, information, telephone numbers etc is all on the website.

Sunshine Committee: Helen hasn’t sent Thank You cards yet. Need to do asap.

Proposed Meeting with Supervisors and Planning Board:

Breakfast meeting February 15 with March 1 as a snow day. Bob’s Diner, open for breakfast at 8:00, begin meeting at 8:30.

Need list of invitees: 9 Towns, 5 village mayors, County personnel, everyone to submit lists of officials at next meeting.

Form of presentation: The Scenic Byway and what are we doing. Positive testimonials, just 5 minutes each. Jan, Helen & Mr. Sands on the Committee to plan this meeting.

Regular Meeting: Route 206 Guide, Kathy will pick up in Chenango Bridge and take to MKL.Net. Members to help distribute. [Update: Route 206 Guide is now at the Tourism Information office at 28 North Main Street in Bainbridge.] Jan will take to Gateway. Ellen is taking them to Norwich.

Next regular meeting on October 23, 2000 at 6:30 PM at the Water’s Edge Bed & Breakfast in Greene.
