A trip alongside farms, forests, lakes and meadows, and through historic places
By Helen Birkmann Hernandez,Bainbridge NY
Route 206 starts off Route 17. Coming from the metropolitain area of New York City, you take exit number 16 on Route 17 North. As soon as you come off the exit, you see the landmark 'Roscoe Diner.' Many a city dwellers from the New York/New Jersey area who have ventured up into this remote part of upstate New York are familiar with the Roscoe Diner and have enjoyed its delightful menu.
| The Roscoe diner, located in Sullivan County, NY off Route 17 and on Route
206, is celebrating 30 years of existence. In the late 70s, when I lived on Long Island, I used to take this exit to visit my Delaware County relatives. Even my parents who still live in Germany have had breakfast or lunch at some point when visiting me in the States. Don't miss the tradition. Have a meal at the diner. |

'Downtown' Roscoe. There are many hunting and fishing supply shops, antique corner stores and small restaurants and snack bars. My personal tip about Roscoe is the Family Diner. It has a delicious Greek menu.

| Near the Route 17 underpass is this reconditioned NY O&W Railroad Car on display. | ![]() |
